W Edinburgh project management services – Nuveen Real Estates

W Edinburgh opened in November 2023, featuring 244 stylish guest rooms and suites and occupying three buildings – the stunning new 12-storey copper ribbon building, Georgian Townhouse James Craig Walk, and the Quarter House. Dominating the Edinburgh skyline, the hotel offers a contemporary twist on one of Europe’s most beautiful cityscapes. W Hotel was developed by Nuveen Real Estate and designed by Jestico + Whiles, with the Whitewall team providing project management services.

The challenge

Nuveen Real Estate needed additional project management support on direct FF&E procurement, direct signage packages and locally sourced art pieces and styling. They also required management of B2B comms for W Edinburgh.

The solution

Whitewall, who had worked for Nuveen on the St James Quarter, was engaged.

Working within the realms of the agreed design narrative, this meant sourcing and managing third parties on direct packages and art pieces, and liaising with signage manufacturers and FF&E suppliers. We also worked with local artists, art curators and photographers and managed a ‘Design A Room’ competition with all Scottish Art schools.

Take a look at our showreel below to see some of the art pieces you’ll find in W Edinburgh.

The results

  • Bespoke furniture and custom art pieces designed and installed across all areas of the hotel, using local talent where possible.
  • Successful styling procurement for suites.
  • Successful management of third party B2B communications with over 30 companies.
  • Successful management of ‘Design a Room’ competition with Glasgow School of Art winners.
